Nikias Skapinakis

Son of a Greek father and a Portuguese mother, he was born in Lisbon in 1931. He studied Architecture, a subject that he would eventually abandon due to his dedication to architecture. painting.

In addition to oil painting, predominant in his career, he worked with different techniques and for different purposes: screen printing, lithography, ceramics and book illustration. Among other works, he illustrated When the Wolves Howl by Aquilino Ribeiro and Andamento Holandês by Vitorino Nemésio.

É one of the authors of one of the café's panels; Brazilian in Chiado and, in 2005, designed a tile panel for the Arroios metro, which is still undergoing expansion work. In 2012, the Berardo Museum presented the anthological exhibition Presente e Pastado 2012-1950,dedicated to the artist.

He passed away in August 2020.
