Born in Lisbon in 1942. He studied Painting at ESBAL. He lived in Madrid from 1961. He worked under the guidance of the painter Luís Garcia - Ochoa. He received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (1964/65).

He has held dozens of solo exhibitions in Portugal, Sweden, France and Spain. Your work is It is represented in around a thousand private collections around the world, and also in museums. Special reference should be made to important projects in which the artist was engaged with works of recognized creative merit in the fields of sculpture, mural painting, ceramics, tapestry, scenography, graphic arts, photography, decorative ;ion and design. A renowned portraitist, he painted, among other personalities, King D. Juan Carlos of Spain, Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg, Prince Albert of Monaco, Archduchess Sofia of Habsburg, King Simeon of Bulgaria, Mr. Hans Rausing, General Ramalho Eanes, Mrs. Isabel Preysler, Mrs. Amália Rodrigues.
