Lima de Freitas

Born in Setubal, in 1927 and died in 1998. Considered by many a “Total Artist”, with an important creative and humanist path in contemporary Portuguese culture: painter, illustrator, essayist and brilliant investigator. He was a founding member of CIRET in Paris, and from 1992 of the Consultative Commission at UNESCO for transciplinarity. He was also Knight of the Order du Mèrite, France. É author of essays and books on themes of visual semiotics, aesthetics and symbolism, as well as numerous writings on art. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in several countries and He held solo exhibitions mainly in Lisbon, Porto, Setúbal, Paris, London, Warsaw, Aarhus and Copenhagen. It is represented in numerous private collections and museums, in Portugal and in a dozen foreign countries.
