Born in 1933, in Paredes (Douro). É degree in Fine Arts from the University of Paris VIII. Between 1962 and 1965 he was a Fellow at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In Paris, from 1975 to 1977, he worked with the Video broadcasting collectives “MON OEIL” and produced several videos on Ecology and the Environment. In Porto, he directed the Academy of Plastic Arts. He graduated from the Université de Paris VIII, in 1977, in Plastic Arts for Teaching. He was general and pedagogical director of the Professional School of Social Economy in 1989/91 and 1998/2000. He participated in international seminars and meetings in Warsaw (1983), Brussels (1986), Crete (1987), among others, on territorial and cultural development policies.
É founding member of ANAP – National Association of Plastic Artists, Academia José Moreira da Silva, from Pedra to Pedra – Pedra Study and Work Center, Porto, of the “PROJECTO” – Cultural Development Center, in Vila Nova de Cerveira, of the Instituto Superior de Economis Social, in Porto and participated in the group VÍDEO PORTO.
He was director of the Vila Nova de Cerveira International Art Biennial between 1995 and 2007 where he directed the studio. free from the I, II, III and IV Biennial.
É director of the Plastic Arts and Multimedia course at Escola Superior Gallaecia and author of the book “Diaries – between anguish and affirmation”, published by Atelier Gondar (2012). He currently runs the Atelier de Gondar – Art and Design Research Center, in Vila Nova de Cerveira.
It is represented in several private collections in Europe, the United States, Canada and the United States. and Japan.
