Born in Quebec (Canada) in 1960, Danuta left young for Zurich, where she graduated in Communication Design at the Schule fur Gestaltung. In England, she completed a postgraduate course in Pedagogy and Education through Art.

She has lived in Lisbon since 1984, where, in 1993, the studio Lupa Design was founded, where she is Managing Partner. In 1989, she also took the Creative Play Course at the Artistic Center for Children of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon.

Her artistic activity is extensive but essentially deals with the area of illustration, namely children's. In this context, she has edited several books, by authors such as João Pedro Messeder, Mia Couto, Onjaki or José Jorge Letria. As an illustrator, her work focuses on translating words into images, but not in the most obvious sense. As she herself states, sometimes illustrations can show things that cannot be said (Conference in Portalegre), in the same way that an illustration works by itself, without having to cling to a text.

Danuta Wojciechowska has extensive professional experience in areas such as design and scenography, as well as in the pedagogical and training area. Of the awards she received, the highlight in 2003 was the National Illustration Prize for the book O Sonho de Mariana, by António Mota and published by Gailivro.
