Born in 1956 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Barbara Walraven studied at the Schools of Fine Arts in Tilburg and Breda, Netherlands.

She is represented in the book "Aspectos das Artes Plásticas em Portugal", by Fernando Infante Carmo, Lisbon, 1992 and "Artes Plásticas Portugal, o Artista, seu mercado", by Narciso Martins, Oporto, 1993.

Her work has been exhibited mainly in Portuguese and Dutch galleries, such as Galerie de Loupe, Breda, Holland and Galeria Municipal da Amadora, Amadora, Portugal. She has held exhibitions at the Beyerd Museum, Breda, Netherlands and at Cultureel Centrum't Tonger-loohuls, Roosendaal, Netherlands.

In 2011 she received an Honourable Mention at the Marinha Grande International Biennale of Plastic Arts and Design, with the work "Touch of glass".

She lives and works in Castelo de Vide, Portugal.
