Madiha Sebbani

Born in 1991 in Salé, Morocco, Madiha Sebbani is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in London, United Kingdom, and currently also in Saudi Arabia. A graduate of the National Institute for Fine Arts in Tétouan in 2015, her practice often revolves around minimalist performances inspired by daily rituals and intimate gestures, challenging our relationship with the extraordinary and our capacity to explore beyond the familiar.

Sebbani’s work is deeply influenced by the power dynamics she observed during her upbringing at a military base. This focus on authority and leadership permeates her art, prompting viewers to critically assess their own interactions with power. Her talent and unique perspective were recognized by the British Art Council in 2020, when she was endorsed and granted a Global Arts and Cultural Talent Visa to further her research and practice in the United Kingdom.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Madiha works as a curator in both Saudi Arabia and the UK. She has served as a curator at MISK Art Institute and has taken on the role of director and founder for projects under Contemporary Lab Company. Her multifaceted career continues to explore the intricate relationships between power, authority, and society, engaging audiences in a thought-provoking dialogue.
